Lagos is a historic walled town with a busy marina and some of the most dramatic coastline in Europe: ochre cliffs, grottoes and sheltered coves. West of town the coast turns wild towards Sagres and the Costa Vicentina, with surf, hiking and very few buildings. Winters are mild and sunny, which makes it a favourite for long stays.
