Madeira (Funchal and Ponta do Sol)
Madeira is a volcanic island of steep green mountains, banana terraces and walking trails that follow old irrigation channels called levadas. Funchal is a proper small city with markets, gardens and a harbour, while Ponta do Sol on the sunny south coast has an established remote-work community. Temperatures barely change through the year, so winter here feels like late spring.
